THE SCIENCE & PHILOSOPHY
PEMF
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field • Recovery • Relaxation • Resilience
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Is It?
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy uses carefully controlled electromagnetic fields to deliver low-frequency pulses to the body. PEMF technology is designed to interact with the body’s natural bioelectrical environment and is commonly explored for relaxation, recovery, circulation, and overall wellness.
What is PEMF used for?
PEMF may appeal to people looking to incorporate technology into routines focused on:
-
Recovery
-
Relaxation
-
Mobility
-
Physical performance
-
General wellness
-
Post-exercise restoration
- Overall well-being
Individual experiences vary, and results depend on the device, protocol, and individual.
Who is PEMF for?
PEMF may be a good fit for individuals who want to incorporate technology into a consistent wellness and recovery routine, including active individuals, athletes, professionals, and those focused on healthy aging and everyday recovery.
What are the Potential Benefits?
Depending on the specific system and protocol, PEMF research has explored:
-
Supporting recovery
-
Supporting circulation and tissue processes
-
Helping manage temporary discomfort
-
Supporting relaxation
-
Supporting mobility and physical function
Evidence varies by application and device, so expectations should remain specific to the technology and intended use.
Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field devices or PEMF devices have been used for decades to improve sleep, speed up healing and reduce pain. These devices send targeted energy pulses into the body to stimulate the cells and encourage faster, but still natural healing. The devices are used all over the world and there are a number of different types available depending on your physical condition and complaints. Or mabye you just need help on how to use PEMF devices. If you’re struggling to choose between them, here’s what you need to know.
What can I expect from PEMF?
PEMF is generally intended to be a gentle, non-invasive wellness experience. Some people report feeling relaxed or refreshed after a session, while others may notice changes gradually with consistent use. There is no single expected response, and individual results vary.
How often should I use PEMF?
Consistency is generally more important than occasional use. Follow the specific manufacturer's recommended protocol for your device, including session duration, intensity, and frequency.
A simple approach is to begin with the manufacturer's introductory settings and gradually establish a routine that fits your wellness goals.
How long does a PEMF session take?
Session times vary by device and protocol. Many systems are designed for convenient sessions that can be incorporated into a daily or several-times-per-week routine. Always follow the instructions provided with your specific device.
Can PEMF be used every day?
Some PEMF systems are designed for frequent or daily use, while others have different recommendations. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific device.
When is the best time to use PEMF?
There is no universal “best” time. Many people incorporate PEMF into their routine in the morning, after physical activity, during relaxation, or in the evening. Choose a time that allows you to use it consistently.
Can I use PEMF with other wellness modalities?
PEMF can be incorporated into a broader wellness routine alongside modalities such as red light therapy, sauna, cold therapy, and vibration. However, each technology should be used according to its own safety guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
Can PEMF help with recovery?
PEMF is commonly incorporated into wellness and recovery routines. Research has explored PEMF in a variety of applications, but outcomes can vary based on the specific technology, protocol, and individual. Core Biowellness does not guarantee a particular recovery outcome.
Can PEMF support sleep and relaxation?
Some people incorporate PEMF into an evening wellness routine because they find the experience relaxing. Research into PEMF and sleep-related outcomes is ongoing, and individual responses vary.
Is PEMF safe?
PEMF devices are generally designed to deliver controlled electromagnetic fields within specified parameters. Safety depends on the specific device and individual circumstances.
Always read and follow the manufacturer's safety instructions before use.
Who should not use PEMF?
Certain individuals may need to avoid PEMF or obtain medical guidance before using it, particularly those with implanted electronic or electromagnetic-sensitive medical devices or other conditions specifically identified in the manufacturer's contraindications.
If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, have an implanted device, or take medications and are unsure whether PEMF is appropriate for you, consult your qualified healthcare professional before use.
Can PEMF replace medical treatment?
No. PEMF products offered by Core Biowellness are intended to support wellness and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, unless a specific device is expressly indicated and authorized for a medical purpose.
How do I choose the right PEMF system?
Consider your:
-
Primary wellness goals
-
Desired treatment area
-
Session preferences
-
Portability needs
-
Frequency and intensity options
-
Available space
-
Budget
If you're unsure, Core Biowellness can help you compare options and identify a system that aligns with your goals.

What are the types of PEMF Devices
There are hundreds of manufacturers out there and just as many variations of devices. These devices are used in different ways and to treat different problems and disorders. To understand which device you should try, here are some of the most common types of devices:
PEMF mats are literally what they sound like. They’re flat mats attached to a controller and a remote that you can use to adjust the treatment. They give you a whole body treatment designed to treat a number of issues and problems including general muscle pain or stiffness, poor circulation, and body aches. There are even some reports that these PEMF devices help with diabetes management, can encourage damaged bone to heal, and stimulate the organs.
PEMF Machines. These are the big PEMF devices that you usually see in therapists’ offices. They’re about the size of a suitcase and have buttons on top and tubes coming out of them. The tubes are placed on different parts of the body and shoot electromagnetic pulses into the tissue. These devices are often used to help heal athletic injuries, because they deliver a focused pulse straight to the damaged tissue. With this aim in mind, they can be used on any part of the body to encourage healing and cell renewal.
PEMF Coil These PEMF devices can be used in your home and look like coils of wires on a metal platform. To use this device, you turn it on and sit in front of it. This device is used to deliver pulses to your entire body, soothing aches and pains and encouraging mental relaxation.
Portable PEMF devices The last type of PEMF device is very small and is usually placed under your mattress at night. It’s attached via a tube to a small device that you can use to change the settings. Portable PEMF devices are designed to improve your sleeping patterns and help your body recover from the demands of the day as well as from long term aches and pains. The electromagnetic pulses from these devices reach every part of your body, so you may experience other benefits such as improved memory and mental focus as well as anti-aging effects.
Choosing a PEMF device is often a matter of trial and error. What works for you and your injury probably won’t work for someone else because everyone’s body is different. Your condition and your complaint determine which device you should use, so don’t trust anyone who claims that their device is the absolute best. There is no ‘best’, there is only what’s best for you.
The Goal
Create more intentional recovery time while supporting your body's natural processes.
Consistency Matters
PEMF should be treated as a protocol, not a quick fix.
Start with the manufacturer's recommended settings and gradually establish a routine that fits your lifestyle.
For example:
Short, consistent sessions → Regular recovery habit → Long-term adherence
The most useful protocol is one you can realistically maintain.
